Architecture
OptimiDoc Server runs as an IIS-hosted ASP.NET web application on Windows Server, accompanied by a Windows background service (the OptimiDoc Service) that handles print delivery, scan processing, mailbox polling and scheduled tasks. Multifunction devices communicate with the server through vendor-specific embedded terminal applications — Konica Minolta, Develop, Xerox, HP, Lexmark, Epson, Canon, Kyocera, Ricoh and Fiery — or through the driverless IPP interface for any standards-compliant printer.
Print and scan data are stored in Microsoft SQL Server (or LocalDB for smaller deployments), while quota balances and settlement records are held in a separate quota database so that cost enforcement remains isolated from operational data. For larger or highly available environments, OptimiDoc can run as a cluster of nodes sharing a common database, and remote sites can host OptimiDoc Printing Nodes (OPN) that spool and release jobs locally — including running their own IPP servers — while pulling their configuration from the central server.
Sensitive credentials and configuration values are encrypted at rest using AES-GCM, and the administration interface is a modern React single-page application served from the server's root address. The previous MVC interface remains available at the /old path for the small number of features still being migrated.

Full quota enforcement and settlement — print and copy jobs are now checked against per-user, per-group and per-department budgets in real time and settled automatically against a dedicated quota database.

Named IPP queue connectors — driverless print queues can be defined individually with their own attribute sets, published by the server and by printing nodes, and distributed across the cluster using a pull-based synchronisation model.
